Day Three of Millennials & Management week here at Rocks Are Hard.
One of the most important things I’ve learned in this whole run-a-company thing, is that giving people feedback – positive and constructive – the gift that keeps on giving.
People of all ages, Millennials, Xers and Boomers alike, WANT to do a good job, and will do their best if they know how they can improve. Too often managers leave the feedback unspoken, like bubbles in the air that they hope their employees will see, absorb and apply. Don’t be that manager. Be the manager leader who gives feedback regularly, explaining expectations, acknowledging improvement and achievement. Be the manager leader that people want to be led by. Give the feedback you wish you had gotten on your way up the ladder.
